US Representative Sue Myrick (NC-09) has released the following statement regarding the House vote today to increase the debt limit:
"Our first priority is to get our fiscal house in order -- not just continue to spend as if the problem doesn't exist. Today's vote reiterated that point. We cannot afford to increase the statutory limit on public debt without immediate and substantial cuts in spending and long-term reforms that will put our nation's budget on a sustainable path".
Due to her husband having surgery, Rep. Myrick was unable to be in Washington, DC for this vote. The statement above indicates that she would have voted "No" on HR 1954.
