Rep. Scott Garrett (R-NJ), Vice Chairman of the House Budget Committee and Chairman of the Republican Study Committee (RSC) Budget and Spending Task Force, issued the following statement today after House Republicans met with President Obama at the White House:
"The president still doesn't get it. Our country's debt problem is by far the most pressing issue of our time, yet President Obama refuses to offer any semblance of a plan to address it. Rather than step up to the plate and offer a plan of his own, he chooses instead to sit on the sidelines as a spectator. It will be impossible for us to achieve any sort of agreement to address the crushing effect of debt on American job creators if President Obama refuses to engage in the debate. In order to jumpstart our economy and start creating jobs for Americans, we need the president to throw out the generalities and start offering honest solutions to address our country's debt."
