Hartzler: "If This is the Road to Recovery, it's Time to Map a Different Route"

It's been a year since the start of what President Obama promised would be the "Recovery Summer" and Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4) is joined by the American people in calling on the President and his fellow liberals to abandon their failed policies and empty promises.
"Our country has experienced 28 straight months of unemployment above eight percent - the rate the President said the jobless figure would never reach if the stimulus package became law," said Hartzler. "President Obama can try to convince the American people this is just what he calls a "bump on the road to recovery,' but we the people know better. If this is the road to recovery, it's time to map a different route."
"A year ago, Vice President Biden told us the Recovery Act was working and predicted the summer would be a very active period of job creation," continued Hartzler. "President Obama claimed his trillion dollar stimulus package was prompting businesses to begin hiring again. The lack of jobs shows this has failed."
"As a small business owner I am familiar with burdensome government regulations and mandates that hinder economic growth," stated Hartzler. "Businesses wanting to hire additional workers must deal with the EPA, the IRS, and a host of other government bureaucracies while navigating through mandates like government-run health care. Add these costs to ridiculously high corporate tax rates and even an economic novice can see why the country is hurting economically."
"Government statistics show the unemployment rate for the month of May was 9.1 percent," added Hartzler. "They also indicate more than 44 million Americans, one in seven families, are receiving food stamps -- the highest number of participants in history. It's time for a different plan -- the plan embraced by House Republicans to put Americans back to work. Information on that plan is available at www.jobs.gop.gov. Restoring our economy begins with fiscal responsibility."
