Congressman Renacci Launches Bipartisan Economic Commission

Press Release

Date: May 18, 2011
Location: Washington DC
Issues: Taxes

Today, Congressman Jim Renacci (R-OH) announced a bipartisan effort to seek real and workable solutions to our nation's economic woes. Reaching across the aisle to work in tandem with Congressman John Carney (D-DE), Congressman Renacci hopes to restart a civil dialogue that promotes innovation, growth and sustained economic success. Congressman Renacci, Congressman Carney, and five additional Members--two Democrats and three Republicans--have begun meeting regularly to discuss ways the Congress can foster an atmosphere in which American business can create jobs for American workers.

As a first step in this initiative, Congressman Renacci is proud to lend his support to H.R. 1693, legislation introduced by Congressman Carney which proposes permanently increasing the Research and Development Tax Credit from 14% to 17%.

"Incentivizing innovation is key to helping American business succeed here at home," Congressman Renacci said. "With the highest corporate tax rate in the world, the United States government must take action to level the playing field. Permanently increasing the Research and Development Tax Credit is the first of many necessary steps to promote the creation of new technologies in America instead of abroad."

"Job creation is not a partisan issue," added Congressman Carney. "I'm proud to have Jim Renacci's support for the Research and Development Tax Credit Extension Act. By increasing the research and development tax credit and making it permanent, we incentivize businesses to set up their operations here in America and create jobs."
