Congressman Ted Deutch released this statement after voting against a divisive default resolution brought forward this evening by House Republicans:
"The Republican majority's willingness to jeopardize the full faith and credit of the United States in order to bolster the case for their plan to end Medicare is a blatant stunt I will not be a part of. It is time for my Republican colleagues to stop threatening the default of America's obligations in order to ram through a plan the American people have overwhelmingly and unequivocally rejected. Rather than engage in an honest bipartisan discussion about reducing our deficit, the Republican majority refuses to accept responsibility for the debt they created through tax cuts for millionaires, two unfunded wars, and a financial crisis that sent our economy into a deep recession."
