Governor Nikki Haley went On the Record w/ Greta Van Susteren last night to discuss the letter she sent to Secretary Janet Napolitano regarding the Department of Homeland Security's failure to grant South Carolina access to documents that confirm employers are using E-Verify.
Gov. Haley said, "I think [Secretary Napolitano] owes me a response We've repeatedly made phone calls and the Obama administration did not respond [W]e have immigration laws for a reason. South Carolina takes illegal immigration very seriously. Let us enforce our laws I need the federal government to get out of the way. The federal government has gotten in the way when it comes to health care, unions and which companies can create jobs in South Carolina. And now they are getting in the way [of enforcing] illegal immigration laws. It has to stop and I'm calling them out on it.
"President Obama is saying he is taking illegal immigration seriously. But then on the other hand, it's his administration that's stopping us from enforcing [illegal immigration laws]. Saying one thing and doing another is the problem we've been having with this administration."
