Congressman Bachus Statement on Libya Resolution

Statement

Date: June 3, 2011
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Foreign Affairs

Congressman Spencer Bachus (AL-6) issued the following statement after voting in favor of the House resolution on Libya introduced by Speaker John Boehner.

"The President cannot have a blank check on committing the U.S. to military action. When the lives of our soldiers are involved, there must be a very clear line of accountability. To date, that has been missing during the involvement in Libya, and as a result the American people have many unanswered questions about the purpose and duration of this intervention. Congress has constitutional responsibilities to fulfill under the War Powers Act and this resolution is important to meeting that duty."
