Congressman Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) issued the following statement regarding President Obama's visit to Toledo today, which coincides with the release of the latest unemployment figures from the U.S. Department of Labor:
"The President is coming back to Ohio to continue selling a government bailout that put taxpayers on the hook for bad business practices. Rather than focusing on private-sector solutions to stimulate our stagnant economy, the President is clinging to his mistaken belief that the government creates jobs. The government can create the right conditions for economic growth; small business owners, risk-takers and entrepreneurs create jobs. House Republicans have put forth responsible solutions that will get the government out of the private sector and get our economy moving again. Today's dismal job report shows that we cannot tax and spend our way out of this recession. The White House should join with House Republicans to cut taxes on job creators, impose fiscal discipline on Washington's reckless spending and halt wrong-headed regulations that are stymieing job growth."
