Lance Unveils Job Creation Proposals

Congressman Leonard Lance unveiled a list of economic proposals during a series of speeches today in Branchburg, Edison and Cranford aimed at job creation and growing the economy. Lance spoke in front of the Branchburg Rotary, the Edison Chamber of Commerce and the Cranford Chamber of Commerce.

"We must renew our focus on policies that create jobs and grow our economy," Lance said. "We must move away from more spending, more borrowing and higher taxes and toward pro-growth policies that will lead us toward a balanced budget, job creation and a stronger economy."

On the issue of fiscal responsibility Lance said, "We need spending restraint to address the record debt and deficit that are dragging down the economy. We must begin to live within our means as so many New Jersey working families do."

The Seventh District lawmaker also called for tax code reform and new tax policies that encourage innovation and investment while making American companies more competitive internationally.

"Congress must pass measures to provide our Nation's job-creators with the tools they need to invest in plants, equipment and workers, including my legislation that would make the research and development (R&D) tax credit permanent," Lance said.

Congressman Lance pointed out that sensible regulatory reform would help spur economic growth and make America more competitive in the global marketplace. "Business owners are often forced to fight cumbersome rules and regulations rather than spend that time investing in their companies and creating new jobs."

Concerning health care reform Lance called for repealing the controversial law and replacing it with fiscally responsible reforms. Those reforms include allowing insurance to be sold across state lines, establishing high-risk insurance pools, implementing medical malpractice reforms and prohibiting insurance companies from discriminating on the basis of pre-existing conditions.

"As a member of the Health Subcommittee I am committed to repealing the health care law and replacing it with common-sense, fiscally responsible reforms that will lower health care costs, expand access and protect jobs," Lance explained.

Finally on energy policy, Lance called for a new national energy plan that makes us less dependent on foreign oil and uses American resources to ensure reliable and affordable energy.

"The House Energy & Commerce Committee is working on a new national energy policy that makes us less dependent on foreign oil and uses American resources to ensure reliable, affordable and cleaner domestic energy," Lance said. "And I am proud to be the author of legislation that will repeal the wasteful and unnecessary ethanol subsidies that cost taxpayers more than $6 billion every year."

The Seventh District lawmaker is a member of the powerful Energy and Commerce Committee.
