Memorial Day Message

Statement

Date: May 29, 2011
Issues: Women

Dear Friend,

As we observe Memorial Day, let us all honor the more than one million who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service of our country - men and women who lost their lives in order to defend our freedoms and liberties.

Let us also remember the prisoners of war and the men and women who are still missing in action. And let us be thankful for all who have left and will leave their families and friends to risk their lives for our great country.

As we visit cemeteries and memorials, let us take a moment today to ask God for comfort upon all the families who mourn and for protection of all our brave men and women in military service.

"O God, by whose mercy the faithful departed find rest, look kindly on your departed veterans who gave their lives in the service of their country. Grant that they may share in the joy of your heavenly kingdom and rejoice in you with your saints forever."

Sincerely,

Representative Jeff Landry
Congressman, 3rd District of Louisiana
