Location: Washington, DC

Today, the four leaders of the Bi-Partisan Energy Working Group released the following statement regarding President Obama's radio address on increasing domestic oil production.

"Today's national radio address by President Obama offers this nation the most realistic opportunity for bipartisan cooperation we've seen in a long time. This week, we introduced the Infrastructure Jobs and Energy Independence Act, a bipartisan collaboration to propel our national energy policy forward by expanding oil and gas exploration and dedicating the increased revenues to creating jobs, cutting the deficit, investing in new energy technologies, and cleaning up our environment. The President's address indicates he shares our view that expanded American drilling is the first step in a new national energy policy. We believe our bill and the President's comments give us the basis to move our national energy policy forward in a bipartisan way and we value the partnership of anyone who wants to work with us to ensure Americans can depend on secure, affordable, and responsible sources of energy for generations to come."

This week, the Bi-Partisan Energy Working Group, led by Congressmen Tim Murphy (PA-18), Tim Walz (MN-01), Bill Shuster (PA-09) and Jim Costa (CA-20), introduced H.R. 1861, the Infrastructure Jobs and Energy Independence Act.
