Today, Louisiana Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D., released the following statement on his participation in the House Financial Services Committee hearing on the Stanford Investment Group Fraud.
"In the years since the Stanford Investment Group fraud, the investors have repeatedly been victimized by the very institutions designed to protect them. The federal government owes them an effective, compassionate and transparent response," said Cassidy. "Today, Congress discussed the many wrongs committed against the hard-working people who have lost life savings because of dishonest and manipulative business practices coupled with federal inaction. A disproportionate number of the victims are in Baton Rouge and I am fighting to make their voices heard. Nearly 100 victims have submitted statements which I have entered into the Congressional Record. We must not let this happen again."
