Cassidy Co-Sponsors Bills to Put Louisiana Back to Work

Location: Washington, DC

Today, Louisiana Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D., released the following statement on his support and co-sponsorship of H.R 1229, the Putting the Gulf of Mexico Back to Work Act and H.R. 1231, Reversing President Obama's Offshore Moratorium Act.

"The president's slow down of Gulf drilling is unjustified and damaging to Gulf Coast states -- especially energy rich Louisiana. Because of the president's moratorium the price of gasoline has soared to a job-crushing $4 a gallon. With nearly 9% of Americans out of work now is not the time to pursue an ideological agenda that increases prices and kills Louisiana jobs.

"The Putting the Gulf of Mexico Back to Work Act and the Reversing President Obama Moratorium Act expands offshore drilling, lowers gas prices and creates good-paying jobs in Louisiana and across the entire Gulf region. I believe in an all-the-above approach to energy production and this legislation is another step towards achieving American energy independence."
