Runyan to Seek Pay Parity for Joint Base Workers

Today, Congressman Jon Runyan (NJ-3) introduced legislation HR 1688, the BRAC Wage Locality Pay Parity Act of 2011, seeking to establish pay parity standards for the civilian workforce at military bases that were combined or designated to become "joint" as part of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC).

"Our Department of Defense and Federal civilian employees are key to supporting national security -- especially those who work at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst," said Runyan. "Before the 2005 BRAC decision, the current Joint Base MDL was three separate bases, with then Fort Dix and McGuire Air Force Base on one locality pay and Lakehurst on another. Though the installations have been combined into one megabase, it is unfair that this pay disparity remains. Those doing the same work should receive the same pay."
