Representative Todd Rokita (IN-4) today voted for a bill that would repeal mandatory funding provided by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Rokita released the following statement:
"With passage of ObamaCare, the Secretary of Health and Human Services gained a troubling amount of authority over America's health care system and taxpayer dollars. In other words, another unelected bureaucrat was put in control of billions of tax dollars with little to no required oversight by Congress. At a time of record government red ink, the best thing we can do is protect precious taxpayer resources and this bill does just that."
H.R. 1213 repeals provisions appropriating funds to the Secretary of Health and Human Services to award grants to states for activities related to establishing an American Health Benefit Exchange. H.R. 1213 passed the House of Representatives on May 3, 2011, by a vote of 238-183.
