This afternoon, Congressman Rick Berg released the following statement in regards to his vote in support of H.R. 1230, the Restarting American Offshore Leasing Now Act:

"Increasing American energy production is a necessary component of a comprehensive energy plan to lower gas prices and break our dependence on foreign oil," Congressman Berg stated. "Our country needs a long-term energy plan like we have in North Dakota that will encourage investment in America's energy sources and create good American jobs."

Congressman Berg, a member of the House Action Energy Team, is a committed advocate for a common sense, long-term national energy policy. In North Dakota, Berg worked with EMPOWER North Dakota, a plan that recognized the diverse potential of energy resources in North Dakota and developed bipartisan policy and private/public partnership to encourage production of these resources.
