Congressman Phil Gingrey (R-GA) today issued the following statement in support of the passage of H.R. 3, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, by the U.S. House of Representatives:

"As an OBGYN who has delivered over 5,000 babies, I believe in the sanctity of human life and understand that it is the most sacred gift we are given. The majority of Americans hold this to be true, which is why spending tax payer dollars on abortion funding is entirely unacceptable. The American people have also demanded we use federal money more wisely. Taking innocent life is the last thing we should be putting scarce federal funds towards and the reason that I am pleased to see this bill pass today."

H.R. 3, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 251 to 175.
