It's been almost a week since the world learned that U.S. Special Forces successfully killed Osama bin Laden, the man responsible for 9/11 and numerous acts of deadly terrorism. While questions still remain regarding his ability to hide in relatively plain sight in a heavily secured compound near Pakistan's capital, the United States is taking action to obtain answers. As intelligence personnel investigate, I will continue to monitor developments that may affect our future security and foreign aid to Pakistan.
For now, we can take comfort in knowing Osama bin Laden can no longer encourage violence and do harm to those who value freedom. Justice was served and the world is a safer place without this monster. Thanks to the bravery and courage of our military men and women, we've achieved a remarkable milestone in the ongoing War on Terror. I will continue to support our brave men and women in uniform who are committed to this essential mission, and thank them for their service and sacrifice.
