Woodall Issues Statement on Passage of Bill to Restart Offshore Oil Drilling

Press Release

Location: Washington, DC

On Thursday, May 5, 2011, Congressman Woodall issued the following statement in favor of H.R. 1230, the "Restarting American Offshore Leasing Now Act":

"According to a report released Monday by the Energy Information Administration, the average price of gasoline is $3.96. Due in part to the President's refusal to allow drilling opportunities in the United States, American families and businesses continue to suffer from these terrible prices at the pump. I was proud to cast my vote in favor of H.R. 1230, a bill that will expand energy production and create jobs. It is ridiculous that our nation remains so dependent on foreign oil when we have such valuable untapped resources right in our backyard. I will continue to support legislation that will free us from unnecessary regulations and allow us to begin taking advantage of the resources available to us."
