Woodall Votes to End Gulf Drilling Moratorium

Location: Unknown

On Wednesday, May 11, 2011, the House passed H.R. 1229, the "Putting the Gulf Back to Work Act," by a vote of 263 - 163. Congressman Woodall, who voted in favor of the bill's passage, issued the following statement:

"H.R. 1229 will do more than just end the Obama Administration's de facto drilling moratorium. This bill will re-open the Gulf Coast for oil exploration in a responsible and transparent manner. Last year's moratorium cost the Gulf Coast region approximately 12,000 jobs. Reopening the Gulf will start the process of bringing jobs back to that region of the United States and, in turn, spur economic growth throughout the nation. I look forward to working with my colleagues in pursuingall-of-the-above energy solutions that will increase domestic energy production, end our dependence on foreign oil, and relieve families of the heavy fuel prices at the pump."
