House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed H.R. 1230, theRestarting American Offshore Leasing Now Act -- legislation requiring the Secretary of the Interior to conduct offshore oil and natural gas lease sales that have been delayed or cancelled by the Obama Administration.

"As gas prices climb to near record highs, the Obama Administration continues policies that block the production of American-made energy," said Chairman Price. "Those policies destroy jobs and limit the supply of available energy resources which increase the cost of oil and gas. House Republicans are committed to breaking down the administration's barriers to oil and natural gas production here at home so that we decrease our dependence on foreign sources of energy and allow businesses to create more American jobs. The administration should act sooner rather than later on these lease sales and join Republicans in expanding opportunities for American-made energy production and economic growth. That's a positive solution!"
