Congressman Bill Owens today introduced legislation on the House Floor to honor the troops and intelligence officers who carried out a successful mission to kill Osama bin Laden Sunday in Abottabad, Pakistan.

"The team involved in the mission to kill Osama bin Laden deserves every American's unwavering gratitude for bringing justice to the world's most wanted terrorist," Owens said. "This resolution expresses the gratitude of the House of Representatives to those involved for avenging the Americans who died on 9/11 and for going to extraordinary lengths to keep us safe and free.

"This historic victory in the War on Terror is a reminder to the world that attacks on American citizens will not go unanswered. At the same time, these events remind us all that we must remain vigilant in providing American troops with the resources they need to complete the mission and return home as soon as possible.

"I join all Americans in expressing my admiration and gratitude for the men and women in uniform and their families here at home who sacrifice every day for our safety and security."
