Today, Congressman Joe Donnelly released the following statement after U.S. forces successfully located and killed Osama bin Laden.
"Last night, I joined Americans in receiving the news of Osama bin Laden's death with joy and relief," said Donnelly. "That U.S. forces penetrated deep into Pakistan, killed him, and swiftly departed with his remains while suffering no casualties of our own is a resounding testament to the unmatched skill and bravery of the American servicemember.
I had said that bin Laden should be given no quarter and that America must be free to act unilaterally whether he was found in Afghanistan, Pakistan, or elsewhere. His death has been a long time coming and our fight since 9/11 has been a difficult one. As we celebrate the justice that was delivered to a mass murderer, let us also remember our sons and daughters stationed overseas in harm's way fighting enemies that remain dangerous. We are a nation proudly in their debt today."
