Schilling Statement on Death of Osama bin Laden

Statement

Date: May 2, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Bobby Schilling, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, today released the following statement after the announcement that terrorist leader Osama bin Laden had been killed by United States forces:

"This announcement is a welcome, long-overdue victory for the United States. On my recent trip to Afghanistan, I was afforded the chance to meet with our troops and witness first-hand the important work they are doing to root out terrorists like bin Laden. I commend those in our intelligence and military community who have put their lives on the line in the name of justice, and I look forward to thanking our dedicated public servants in person at the CIA later today.

"Unfortunately terrorism existed before bin Laden, and the threat of terrorism continues after him. Even as we honor this victory of justice, we must stay vigilant and unwavering in our support of our troops. As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I will work to ensure that they are provided with the tools and equipment they need to continue on in our larger war on terror to protect our values and freedoms."
