Rep. Howard P. "Buck" McKeon today made an additional statement following President Obama speech on reducing the nation's debt and joining a conversation Republicans have been having for years.
"In the President's first "debt reduction' speech this week, he underscored a glaring philosophical and economic difference between Republicans and Democrats by highlighting a tax and spend agenda and advocating for an increase in taxes on the American people and small businesses. This second attempt at a budget by the President still spends too much, taxes too much, and borrows too much.
"Last week, House Budget Chairman, Paul Ryan, released the 'Path to Prosperity,' a budget proposal for 2012, which is a serious effort to tackle the nation's finances and entitlement spending. The new Republican budget plan endeavors to create a stronger, healthier economic environment for private-sector job growth, while reducing the debt burden that threatens future generations."
