McCarthy Statement on Official End to California's Drought

Statement

Date: March 30, 2011

Congressman Kevin McCarthy today issued the following statement after California Governor Jerry Brown proclaimed an end to California's drought:

"Despite today's announcement, there is no question California is still in a man-made water crisis. Even with a significantly above-average snowpack this year, our farmers and ranchers are still not expected to receive 100 percent of the water they are entitled to, due in large part to government restrictions on the delta. What happens in future years when there is not as much rain and snow? Our communities will face a one-two punch -- a year naturally with less water exacerbated by government-imposed restrictions on water flows. I will continue to work with our farmers, ranchers and communities to fight for a long-term solution to California's man-made drought so they have the water they need to thrive."
