Whitfield Supports Spending Cut Agreement

Statement

Date: April 14, 2011
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power, today voted to support legislation that would fund the government for the remainder of the 2011 Fiscal Year while also making the largest single non-defense related cuts in history of nearly $40 billion. Following his vote, Whitfield issued the following statement:

"I am pleased to see Congress finish the work that should have been completed under then Speaker Pelosi's leadership last year. This bill makes sweeping cuts across many sectors of government and is a first-step toward putting forth a budget for the 2012 Fiscal Year that results in spending discipline and ends Washington's uncontrolled spending."
