Ensign Addresses Debt Ceiling Debate

Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator John Ensign, a member of the Senate Finance Committee, spoke at a hearing today examining different perspectives on deficit reduction. Ensign questioned the panel on which tax rates affect economic growth, the issue of raising the debt ceiling, and putting spending reforms into place.

Excerpt from Senator Ensign's remarks:

"This really is about saving the Republic. We are literally at a chance of losing our Republic due to this debt and that's how big of an issue it is here. All the debt ceiling debate is about is using it to make sure we put ourselves on a sustainable path, because everybody agrees that the path we are currently on is unsustainable."
