U.S. Congressman Paul Broun, M.D. (GA-10) today released the following statement regarding his vote against the six day continuing resolution:
"While I am glad our Leadership was able to craft an agreement with Senate Democrats that cut spending and averted a government shutdown, I cannot support a final bill that does not reach our initial compromise amount of sixty-one billion dollars in cuts.
"There is no question that our nation is heading down a path of financial destruction, and every step we make this Congress will shape the coming critical debates concerning America's long-term health and stability. This bridge resolution is handcuffed to an agreement that, while containing historic cuts, is still a pittance to the sheer magnitude of our federal debt. I will continue to hold the front lines in the battle for liberty and fiscal sanity in America."
