Rep. Nan Hayworth, M.D. (R-NY) issued the following statement after the House passed the FY 2011 funding agreement to cut spending and keep the government operating for the remainder of the fiscal year:
"We have done what the last Congress failed to do: ensure that the federal government stays open for the remainder of the fiscal year while cutting spending. This agreement isn't perfect, and we need to cut much more. However, the measure passed today will send a signal to job creators that the tide is turning against the culture of reckless spending in Washington. This agreement we passed contains real and significant cuts that will help create jobs and end the uncertainty that is stifling economic growth. Now we will move from returning billions of dollars to our citizens, to returning trillions of dollars to them as we consider the smart, sensible, and responsible budget for 2012, prepared under the leadership of Chairman Paul Ryan."
The measure passed today is the largest non-defense spending cut in our nation's history will cut $315 billion over the next 10 years.
