U.S. Rep. Karen Bass' Statement on Falling Unemployment Rate

Statement

U.S. Rep Karen Bass Released the following statement regarding the growth in employment of 216,000 jobs and drop in unemployment to 8.8%.

"Today's drop in the unemployment rate is just another indicator that we continue to move forward in the right direction thanks to the hard work of the President and Democrats in Congress. Much more work needs to be done, and still, too many people in our communities continue to struggle through tough times and are facing tremendous economic pain. Today's news provides little comfort to those families in need and our fight on their behalf must and will continue.

"I've been in Washington for 13 weeks now and painfully watched Republicans fail to introduce a single bill that creates jobs. Their agenda is both dangerous and reckless, and would destroy more than 700,000 jobs according to one Republican economist.

"While Democrats have been working to create jobs, strengthen the middle class, and responsibly reduce our deficit, members of the Majority prefer to campaign rather than govern and this tactic threatens to undermine the economic gains we have achieved."
