Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade, released the following statement today after introduction of the House Republican's 2012 budget proposal:
"I look forward to carefully reviewing the House Budget Committee's proposal and commend Chairman Ryan for his willingness to begin a long overdue and critically important debate over ways -- some controversial and many painful -- to end runaway deficits, reduce our staggering national debt and ensure prosperity for future generations of Americans. It's time to stop kicking the can down the road.
"By 2040, it's now estimated that interest on the national debt, as well as entitlement spending on Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, will surpass all federal revenues. That sobering projection should serve as a wakeup call for everyone and demands a look at all federal spending -- from entitlements to national defense."
