Today, after Republicans released their new budget proposal for FY '12, Rep. Anthony Weiner (D -- Queens and Brooklyn) released the following statement:
"The "adult conversation' about the future of our nation comes down to an ostrich-like approach to the challenges we face. To believe that if we simply stop paying for health care and other essential needs of our nation, costs won't be incurred anyway is not brilliant, or courageous, or adult. It is simplistic and foolhardy."
"This document raises health care costs by dividing up the large buying pools of Medicare and replacing them with an "every man for himself' approach. It shifts health care costs to states and individuals. Apparently the bill fairy is going to pay for health care."
"This budget represents the biggest local tax increase and cost-shifting document in recent American history."
