Senator John Ensign tonight responded to the announcement that a deal had been struck on the budget to avoid a government shutdown.
"In the eleventh hour, partisan politics were set aside for the good of the country," said Ensign. "However, even with what appears to be an acceptable budget deal, a lot remains to be done to get our fiscal house in order. I look forward to continuing our work on cutting spending and reducing our national debt and deficit to further protect the future of our country."
Earlier Friday, Senator Ensign spoke on the Senate floor about the need to reach a deal to avoid a government shutdown.
