Today, Congressman Sires announced that the North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue has received a grant award of $171,920 from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This program provides grants to qualified agencies in order to strengthen their overall level of preparedness and ability to respond to fire and related hazards. This grant will give the North Hudson Regional Fire & Rescue the ability to purchase personal protective equipment such as coats, pants and boots, to keep emergency responders safe in emergency situations.

"This funding will make sure that our emergency responders are duly equipped in dangerous situations, ensuring that they can perform their duties safely and effectively."
