Rep. Lee Terry released the following statement marking the one-year anniversary of the federal government's overhaul of America's health care system.
"One year ago today, President Obama signed this misguided overhaul into law. Since then, two federal judges have found the individual mandate unconstitutional and, in January, the House voted to repeal this law with bipartisan support.
"I am working with my colleagues on the House Energy and Commerce Committee to improve the nation's health care system -- including lowering premiums through increased competition, providing the States greater flexibility to administer Medicaid programs, and eliminating duplicative government programs and waste. In addition, we are going to work to prohibit taxpayer funding of abortions and provide conscience protections for health care providers. This is not going to be a quick fight, but we are going to get there," Terry said.
