Congressman Francisco "Quico" Canseco released the following statement in reaction to today's vote by the House of Representatives on legislation to provide funding for the federal government for an additional three weeks:
"Today's short-term measure keeps the federal government operating for another three weeks and cuts federal spending by $6 billion. I voted for this short-term measure to keep the government running while giving more time for the House and Senate to come to an agreement on a spending measure to cover the rest of the fiscal year, this is the last short-term measure I plan to vote for. Whether or not the big spending liberals in the United Sates Senate like, the American people want Congress to cut spending so that we can begin putting our nation back on a sustainable fiscal path and creating jobs. The people of the 23rd District of Texas sent me here to cut spending, and that is what I intend to do."
