Chuck Fleischmann Participates in Press Conference Regarding "The Obama Premium: An Assault on American Energy"

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Chuck Fleischmann participated in a press conference with other members today entitled "The Obama Premium: An Assault on American Energy".

"Since President Obama was sworn-in, the cost of a tank of gas has almost doubled for the average family. The irresponsible energy policies of the Obama Administration are directly affecting the bottom line of households across America. In a time when there is turmoil in the Middle East, we must not have a de-facto moratorium on offshore drilling," Fleischmann said.

"There are also tens of thousands of American jobs that are being lost due to the moratorium, and many of those jobs are being shipped overseas. The President cannot say he is for job creation, and then implement policies that stifle job creation in this country. As gas prices climb each day, and the President continues down a path of less domestic energy production, he sounds more and more like Jimmy Carter. We should have learned from those failed policies already, but our President and his Administration seemed destined to repeat them. America needs a coherent energy plan and that plan starts with our abundant resources here at home."

Congressman Fleischmann serves on the House Committee on Natural Resources.
