Congressman Ben Quayle (R-AZ) released the following statement Friday after the U.S. Department of Labor released its February unemployment report:
"Job creation is the chief motivator of the new Republican Majority in the House, therefore, any positive development on the unemployment front is welcome news to all of us. While thousands of Arizonans remain unemployed or underemployed, I'm hopeful that today's news marks a trend towards continued job growth. While the numbers are indeed promising, they still fall far short of where we need to be.
"Many American companies continue to keep their capital on the sidelines while they wait for Congress and the White House to get on the same page. Simply urging businesses to hire is not going to get the job done. Both chambers of Congress have to remove barriers to job creation. If the House and Senate can agree on a long-term funding bill featuring significant spending cuts, we can begin to address critical issues like entitlement and tax reform. We still have a long way to go, but we're heading in the right direction."
