AN ORDER TO ENSURE THE PRESCRIBED STANDARD OF DISCIPLINE IS MAINTAINED IN THE MAINE NATIONAL GUARD
WHEREAS, the Governor is the Commander-in-Chief of the military forces of the State of Maine;
WHEREAS, the Constitutional duties of the Governor include issuing such orders, regulations, and other means of administration as are necessary to maintain the prescribed standard of organization, armament, and discipline;
WHEREAS, such orders, regulations, and other means adopted have the full force and effective of the law under Article VII, Section 4 of the Maine Constitution; and
WHEREAS, ensuring members of the Maine National Guard returning from war have the means necessary to return to their civilian lives is necessary for good order and discipline;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Paul R. LePage, Governor of the State of Maine, hereby order as follows:
1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Secretary of State may, in his sole discretion, issue a temporary license plate for a reasonable period of time to any member of the Maine National Guard whose vehicle's registration expired while in federal service outside the United States.
The effective date of this Executive Order is March 2, 2011.
