The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today that the U.S. economy created 192,000 jobs in February, lowering the unemployment rate to 8.9 percent.
Rep. Pitts' statement follows:
"Today we received good news that the economy is on the right track. While decreasing, the unemployment rate is still too high. Our top priority in Congress is creating the conditions for the private sector to start hiring more Americans.
"Republicans are going to continue working to provide low, stable and predictable tax rates. In order to do this, we have to get our spending under control. Getting our nation's finances in order will help provide businesses the confidence to invest and hire."
