Gov. Sanford Issues Statement on Shuttle Tragedy
GOVERNOR URGES SOUTH CAROLINIANS
TO JOIN IN PRAYER
Governor Mark Sanford today issued the following statement on the loss of the Space Shuttle Columbia and its seven member crew this morning:
"It's a terrible tragedy," Gov. Sanford said. "I'd ask everyone in South Carolina to join me and my family in praying for all of the families across the country who are going to be affected by this disaster. Our state remembers losing one of its native sons in the Challenger tragedy seventeen years ago, and so as we focus our thoughts and prayers on the families affected by today's tragedy, I'd ask that we also remember the family and friends of late Astronaut Ron McNair and his crew as I'm sure they are reliving a very difficult time in their lives right now."
