Today, Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-KS) voted to prohibit federal funds for abortion by voting for committee passage of HR 358, the Protect Life Act, in the Energy and Commerce Committee. Pompeo released the following statement after the vote:
"I'm proud that my first vote on the US House floor was to repeal Obamacare. Now, I'm proud to have made my first recorded vote in Committee a vote to protect the sanctity of life by banning the use of federal funds for abortion. House Democrats were wrong to incorporate the allowance of taxpayer money for abortion within Obamacare last spring. This spring, now that Republicans are here and listening to the will of the American people, we will continue our march toward dismantling this misguided and reckless government takeover of our health care system," stated Congressman Pompeo.
