Congressman Steve Scalise today released the following statement after President Obama announced his proposed budget for FY 2012.

"When 40 cents of every dollar spent by the federal government is borrowed money, it is clear that we have a serious spending problem in Washington that needs to be fixed, and President Obama has failed to grasp this problem since his latest budget accelerates our country's path to bankruptcy," Scalise said. "By imposing $46 billion in new taxes on domestic energy producers, the President's budget cedes America's energy independence to Middle Eastern countries that don't like us, and seems to be a gift to OPEC at the expense of more American jobs."
