Statement

Date: Feb. 22, 2011
Location: Bloomingdale, IL

Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06) met with over 70 education officials in Glendale Heights this morning to discuss the long overdue reauthorization of the No Child Left Behind Act.

"It's no secret that No Child Left Behind needs reform -- and that's why I appreciate so many local school officials and teachers taking time to meet with me and share their concerns and advice for how to improve our education system.

"Teachers and administrators are on the front lines of our education challenges every day, and hearing their priorities for the future of No Child Left Behind is crucial for reform.

"We need reform that restores local control of education, empowers students and parents, allows teachers to teach, and protects taxpayer dollars. Our meeting today and the robust dialogue we had is another important step towards ensuring that our children get the best education possible."
