Gov. Perdue Appoints F. Lane Williamson to Special Superior Court Judgeship

Gov. Bev Perdue today appointed former Superior Court Judge F. Lane Williamson as a Special Superior Court Judge in Mecklenburg County.

"Judge Williamson has earned the respect and confidence of the public and the legal community throughout the state as an attorney and as a Resident Superior Court Judge," said Gov. Perdue. "I am pleased to appoint him as a Special Superior Court Judge so that the state will continue to benefit from his service."

In 2010, Williamson was appointed to and served as a Resident Superior Court Judge for Mecklenburg County. Prior to his service on the bench he was a partner in the firm of Garlitz & Williamson, PLLC, in Charlotte. His experience in the practice of law includes business and commercial litigation, personal injury litigation, construction litigation, real estate litigation and criminal defense. He served as chair of the Disciplinary Hearing Commission of the North Carolina State Bar. He has been a pro bono volunteer for the Children's Law Center and Legal Services for the Southern Piedmont and was a frequent speaker at continuing legal education programs on legal ethics and attorney discipline.

He earned his undergraduate degree at New College and his law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law.
