U.S. Rep. Blake Farenthold, issued the following statement today after the president's State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress:
"President Obama has moved closer to the center on many issues. In my first week in Congress I supported legislation that would decrease the size of government, and cut spending. I am pleased that the President is also showing support for initiatives to eliminate wasteful government spending which has been the hallmark of Congress in the past few years."
"I have serious concerns that the President's energy proposed policies will hurt Texans. Eliminating exploration and drilling credits combined with increased regulation of offshore drilling will cost jobs and drive gasoline prices up.
"I look forward to working with my colleagues and the Administration in the 112th Congress and feel certain that with bi-partisan cooperation, we can bring about meaningful changes for the people of South Texas."
