From San Diego:
As an advocate with the American Heart Association, I strongly urge you to vote NO to repealing the Affordable Care Act. The new law makes too many significant improvements to our nation's health care system that we simply should not roll back.
Heart disease, stroke, and other cardiovascular diseases are our nation's No. 1 killer and the patient protections under the new law are crucial to reducing death and disability from these diseases. Already, patients are benefiting from the reforms that have been implemented and their repeal would have devastating consequences for patients and their families.
While no law is perfect, we must maintain and build upon the improvements made by the Affordable Care Act, rather than stripping patients of the protections they need and deserve. I am counting on you to use our district's vote to protect patients by voting NO on H.R. 2.
I look forward to hearing back from you about your vote on this matter.
Congressman Filner replies:
Thank you for contacting me regarding the vote to repeal the healthcare law.
I wholeheartedly agree! The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will provide affordable and comprehensive healthcare to all Americans! You will be glad to know I voted against the repeal. Rest assured, I will continue to work with my colleagues to ensure all Americans have access to healthcare!
I appreciate your advocacy on this issue!
