Senator John Ensign today questioned President Obama's Director of the Office of Management and Budget, Jacob Lew, at a Senate Budget Committee hearing about the record spending levels set forth in President Obama's 2011 Fiscal Year Budget.
Excerpt from today's hearing:
Senator Ensign: "The spending cuts in this budget aren't enough, allowing the interest rates to take us further into debt, which is unsustainable. CBO Director Elmendorf confirmed to me that overall spending was decreased by less than one penny out of every dollar. This is not enough. Federal spending is crowding out private sector investments to create jobs, which we desperately need in Nevada. We need to make the tough choices when it comes to spending because if we don't the future prosperity of Americans will suffer."
