Representative Denham Responds To President Obama's FY2012 Budget

Statement

Representative Jeff Denham (CA-19) today released the following statement in response to the President's FY2012 budget:

"President Obama made a promise to cut the deficit in half during his first term in office. Instead, his recent budget continues to lead us down the same unsustainable path and proposes $1.6 trillion in tax hikes.

"We must remain committed to reducing the deficit and creating jobs. Increased runaway spending and the President's proposal of $8.7 trillion in new spending will only crush private sector investment, build uncertainty among job creators and create a debt-laden future for our children.

"Bottom line, the United States cannot continue to operate under the status quo. House Republicans made a commitment to cut $100 billion and we will not stop there. I am committed to getting our country back on track. Now is not the time to invest in excess properties or failed projects, we need to eliminate waste and get our fiscal house in order."
